About
What is Sicro?
Sicro is a small community of enthusiastic research scientists focused on solving real problems, and answering important questions. The purpose of Sicro is to encourage and underscore first class research, and provide a culture and community centered around the quest to understand and address the most important challenges in our field.
Who can be a part of Sicro?
Sicro is open to everyone with a deep interest in solving research problems regardless of school, organization, etc. It is only the merit of your ideas and your work that will every be judged.
What exactly does the Sicro group do?
Its quite flexible, any activities to encourage and underscore the first class research of its members is on the table. However, the cornerstone of Sicro will be an informal yearly electronic magazine, “Sicro Impact.” We also plan to feature and underscore the activities and achievements of its members through the web platform, and foster a sicro culture of friendship and scholarliness.
Can you tell me more about the ‘Sicro Impact’ e-zine?
The purpose of Sicro Impact is to underscore each members research contributions and major achievements for the prior year. This will be in the form of an electronic magazine (e-zine) that contains summaries of the problems addressed and key results for each member (a summary of already published work). These summaries can be in the form of condensed versions of selected papers published that prior year. In addition to the summaries, and most importantly, each member will include a short reflection (a page or so) of the deeper impact of their work, some insights as to how they came upon the problem and solution, and advice and words of wisdom gained.
When will this e-zine happen?
The first installment of this yearly e-zine will be released in January of 2011.
Sicro sounds very interesting, how can I be a part?
The only requirement to be a part of Sicro, is to have a deep value for first class research, and be a participant in advancing our field (i.e., someone who does research). The only credentials you need is to have published a paper in the past year or two that you ‘own’ and feel is quality work. Simply send us an email, point us to your work, and you are in. Sicro is about a culture to foster great thought, an interest in that culture already qualifies you.
